NLPA Conference - Denver
Developing the logo and campaign for the NLPA (National Latinx Psychological Association) conference, titled "You Are My Other Me: Creating Communities of Healing," was engaging and personally meaningful. Drawing inspiration from my Mexican heritage and fascination with astrology, I felt an immediate connection to the symbolism of the sun and moon. To convey the theme of interconnectedness more prominently, I sought to explore a representation that resonated deeper.
The sun and moon concept, two mighty opposites working harmoniously to create a supportive ecosystem, perfectly encapsulated the desired message. The conference's emphasis on cultural roots also prompted me to draw inspiration from Talavera pottery and artistic styles prevalent in South and Central America. Extensive research on ancient tribes, encompassing diverse regions such as the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East, allowed me to incorporate colors and shapes reminiscent of ancient murals and artifacts.
In my quest for authenticity, I turned to ancient Mayan and Aztec hieroglyphs to shape the faces within the logo. It was crucial to embody the strength and resilience of the represented cultures while honoring their rich historical heritage. The resulting logo and corresponding collateral exude a sense of fortitude, reflecting the enduring spirit of these cultures as they evolve while cherishing their roots.
